If you are not already at the head of Garden having fished down through Doctors Ledges, the best way in is to go through the gate upstream of the Bridge and follow the river upstream through the little copse and then down the steps in to the river. This is a deep and rocky pool on a bend. The rocks extend out roughly one third of the way from the right hand bank then drop steeply in to deep water. In low water it does not pay to cast too far or you my find yourself hung up in the rocks. An interesting low water technique for the adventurous and experienced wader is to cross over at the tail of Adam’s Pot, make your way carefully to the natural weir at the top of Adam’s Pot, and fish a small spinner directly upstream along the line of the deep water. It is advisable to fish Adam’s Pot first and to only attempt this with extreme caution in very low water, and then only if you are very confident in your abilities to wade. It is very rocky with a strong current and it is very easy to end up in the river. Not for everyone.
